Ingredients

For the Pound Cake:

2 ½ cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

½ teaspoon baking soda

½ teaspoon salt

1 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature

2 cups granulated sugar

4 large eggs, at room temperature

1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract

1 cup buttermilk, at room temperature

For the Cream Cheese Glaze:

4 ounces cream cheese, softened

1 cup powdered sugar, sifted

2 tablespoons milk (adjust for desired consistency)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C). Grease and flour a 10-inch bundt pan or a loaf pan.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large mixing bowl, using an electric mixer, beat the softened butter until creamy. Gradually add the granulated sugar, continuing to beat at medium speed until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.

Add Eggs and Vanilla: Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then stir in the vanilla extract until fully combined.

Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients: Alternately add the dry flour mixture and buttermilk to the butter mixture, starting and ending with the flour mixture. Mix just until combined; do not overmix.

Pour into Pan: Pour the batter into the prepared bundt or loaf pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 60-70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Cool: Once baked, remove from the oven and let the cake cool in the pan for about 15-20 minutes. Then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Prepare Cream Cheese Glaze: In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and sifted powdered sugar. Add 2 tablespoons of milk and vanilla extract. Beat until smooth. If the glaze is too thick, add a little more milk until you reach the desired consistency.

Glaze the Cake: Once the cake has completely cooled, drizzle the cream cheese glaze over the top. Allow the glaze to set for a few minutes before slicing.

Serve: Slice and serve your delicious vanilla buttermilk pound cake. Enjoy!
