Stuffed Shells with Ground Beef

20 jumbo pasta shells

1 pound ground beef

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 can (15 oz) ricotta cheese

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 egg

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

2 cups marinara sauce

Fresh basil leaves, for garnish

Instructions
 

Cook the Shells: In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the jumbo pasta shells according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

    Prepare the Filling: In a large skillet, heat a little oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until softened and fragrant, about 3-5 minutes. Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spoon, and cook until browned and cooked through. Drain any excess grease.

      Mix the Cheese Filling: In a large bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, half of the mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, beaten egg, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Stir in the cooked beef mixture until well combined.

        Stuff the Shells: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with a little olive oil or cooking spray. Fill each cooked pasta shell with the beef and cheese mixture, placing them in the baking dish seam side up.

          Assemble the Dish: Pour the marinara sauce evenly over the stuffed shells, ensuring they are well coated. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese on top.
